If there’s one thing I know well, it’s good coffee shops. Because I religiously drink a cup of joe each day, I’ve spent a fair share of my time in cafes. Plus, I work from home, so they’re basically my makeshift office during the week. One of my favorite things about the act of getting coffee is that it’s universal. When I travel, it’s the first thing I think to scope out, no matter where I am. It’s like discovering something new each day, but with an old friend–that friend being coffee.

After traveling and tasting, I’ve rounded up my favorite coffee shops across major U.S. cities below. It’s obviously heavy on the New York City side since I live here, but the ones in other major cities are must-try’s, too. Whether it’s the best espresso, good food or ambiance, I break it down below.

Jack’s Coffee – I like their little nook in the West Village that prides itself on well-trained, super hipster baristas with both talent and that coffee-shop look. // jackstirbrew.com

Everyman Espresso – The original location is hidden on the side streets of Union Square and doubles as a black box theatre. They pull the best shot here, so if you’re into espressos or macchiatos, this is the place to go. // everymanespresso.com

Blue Bottle – You guys have probably seen way too many Blue Bottle cups in my Instagram Stories. You’ll find locations all around the city (and other areas of the U.S.). Their NOLA coffee, an iced blend of coffee, chicory, organic cane sugar and milk, is my go-to. // bluebottlecoffee.com

Cafe Integral, NYC

Cafe Integral – Nolita is known for its downtown-chic vibes, and this coffee shop, with white marble and gold finishes, is a hot spot for midday coffee meet-ups. // cafeintegral.com

East One Coffee – This new spot in Carroll Gardens is spacious, has some totally Instagrammable distressed walls, and is one of my favorite work date cafes. // eastonecoffee.com

Toby’s Estate – High ceilings, floor-to-ceiling shelving filled with the Brooklyn-est of knick knacks and unexplainably wealthy artist-types abound. It’s Williamsburg to a T, oozing with cool. // tobysestate.com

Bluestone Lane Coffee – If you haven’t seen one of these many locations on Instagram, you’ve been living under a rock. The Australian-style cafe has delicious and super fresh brunch fare, like avocado toast and breakfast bowls. // bluestonelaneny.com

Der Pioneer – This little gem that just opened up in my quiet Ditmas Park neighborhood is great for a good cup of Brooklyn Roasters coffee. The major draw, though, is the pastries, all of which are made on premise several times a day. Try the chocolate-laced coffee cake and the honey cinnamon scone. // derpioneer.com

Panther Coffee – Trust me, you’re gonna need an iced coffee to cool down in Miami. This place brews it bold and flavorful. // panthercoffee.com

*more to be added after my Miami trip this weekend* (yayayayayayayy!)

Addiction Coffee House – This place has a drink called Miss Tracy’s Addiction that will keep you coming back like a crack fiend. It’s espresso with steamed coconut & cow’s milk, warm honey and a spicy kick of cayenne pepper. // addictioncoffee.house

District Donuts – The drip coffee is great here, but I’m gonna be honest–I put this one on the list because the donuts are so good. I love the peanut butter, banana and bacon one, but you can go savory with a donut Monte Cristo sandwich, too. // districtdonuts.com

OX Coffee – This spot, opened by an old friend who has been immersed in the coffee world for over ten years, has the best neighborhood vibes and a quiet patio. // oxcoffee.com

Federal Donuts – Okay, clearly I have an obsession with donuts. But seriously, the combination of the thick standard drip here with their classic donuts is one of my favorite things. And you can always grab a batch of fried chicken to-go. (Yes, I said fried chicken.) // federaldonuts.com

Intelligentsia Coffeebar – This is a classic from the well-known coffee empire. The Broadway location is super spacious, and a great spot to catch up on any work you need to get done. // intelligentsiacoffee.com

Cafe Integral – Yes, this one’s in Chicago, too–It’s actually the original location, which is located inside the Freehand hotel. They always have innovative seasonal coffee drinks that keep me coming back to try the newest and next. // freehandhotels.com
