Brunch is one of those things that the husband and I tend to keep close to our apartment. Between squeezing in a gym session and other errands, it just ends up being easier. Plus, a lot of the spots in Manhattan are all about the boozy brunch, which means the food usually just sucks. While I’m all about a boozy anything, my first interest when traveling more than 20 minutes to brunch is amazing food. If you make the good food, I will come.
We’ve heard good things about Zizi Limona, a small little Mediterranean bistro tucked into Williamsburg, so we decided to brave the weekend G train (if you’re not familiar with the hell of it, it’s about the equivalent of sticking a fork in your eye) to give it a try. The space was cute, incredibly laid back and the food was really good. Their homemade hummus had us asking for more pita because we wanted to eat EVERY bite of it. I also love that they put a twist on the traditional scrambled eggs dish with creamy yogurt, fresh heirloom tomatoes, smoke paprika home fries and incredibly flavorful merguez. You get a cocktail & appetizers with your brunch, so we went for a mimosa and the Purple Haze. Also, that roasted cauliflower, yo. Pure love. Here are some highlights from the day.
